Strong roots lead to strong behavior...

Bio

My Story

Katelyn started her career in the I/DD (intellectual and developmental disability) community in 2012 as a personal support worker (PSW). She graduated from the University of Oregon majoring in education, and later earned her master's degree in Special Education from Pacific University. Katelyn was a teacher for four years before working as a behavior professional in 2022, and opening her own business in 2023.

Katelyn is also bilingual in American Sign Language (ASL), and lives in a bilingual/bicultural home where both ASL and English are used. When she is not advocating for her clients, she loves spending time with her husband, toddler, and rescue dog (Luna). She also loves gardening and would eventually love to be a beekeeper one day.

Tamarack Behavior Services is proud to announce ONE YEAR of serving clients in Oregon! Over 50 individuals ages 3-75 have been served in Marion, Polk, Linn, Washington, Clackamas, and Multnomah counties. Languages served include English, American Sign Language (ASL), and Spanish (through BoostLingo Interpreting Service).

Our Services

1

Temporary Emergency Safety Plan (TESP)

This service does not apply for every person, but may be needed for situations where a true emergency occurs and has a 15 day timeline to complete. After a TESP is complete, the official FBA and PBSP must be complete in 90 days.

2

Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA)

During this phase, the behavior professional learns about the person-what do they like, don't like, what does their team have to say about them, and what are the functions of the behavior. This takes anywhere from one-two months to complete. If needed, the FBA will indicate if a positive behavior support plan (PBSP) is needed

3

Positive Behavior Support Plan (PBSP)

Now it's time for the game plan-what are some strategies for caregivers to use to help support the individual? Caregivers (parents, DSPs, providers, DSA) are all trained, and the individual will also review the plan during this time. This takes about a month to complete.

4

Maitenance (OR-310)

The assessment is complete; the team has a plan...then what? Depending on the level of need indicated in the individual support plan (ISP), a designated number of hours are allotted for maintenance. Data will be collected to determine how successful the plan is, and if any changes need to be made.
