Black Lives Matter

Tamarack Behavior Services stands with the Black community. Black Lives Matter. Ethnic and racial disparities negatively impact Oregon’s Black community. Given the senseless loss of Black lives at the hands of law enforcement and the global unrest in response to the killing of George Floyd, silence is complicity.

Therefore, Tamarack Behavior Services pledges to the Black community:

  1. We will speak up against acts and words of racism and hold individuals and institutions accountable for their actions.

  2. We will do the work within ourselves so that we can put a stop to the institutional racism that is all-pervasive.

  3. We will listen more and talk less.

  4. We will advocate for you, collaborate with you, and help you tell your stories with the dignity and respect deserved.

  5. We will not allow fear and systemic racism to guide the services we provide.

Indigenous Land Acknowledgment

Tamarack Behavior Services' main office is in Salem, Oregon.

An estimated 80,000 Kalaputa Native Americans once resided in the Willamette Valley.

Today, descendants of the Kalapuya continue to live in the area, and some are members of The Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon, a federally recognized Tribe that includes over 30 Tribes and bands from western Oregon, northern California and southwest Washington.

However, Tamarack Behavior Services currently offers services in Washington, Multnomah, Marion, Linn, Polk, and Clackamas Counties. These counties are stewarded by Chinook, Alsea, Molalla, and Kalapuya tribes.

Tamarack Behavior Services honors and respects these indigenous communities and honors their land.

LGBT Affirming

Tamarack Behavior Services strives to end discrimination against LGBTQ+ people and realize a world that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all. Tamarack Behavior Services envisions a world where lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people plus community members who use different language to describe identity are ensured equality and embraced as full members of society at home, at work and in every community.

ASL and Deaf Friendly

Tamarack Behavior Services offers behavior consultation in both American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English. When the situation arises, Tamarack Behavior Services partners with certified Deaf interpreters throughout Oregon-free of charge to the client. This includes pro-tactile interpreting services for DeafBlind clientele.
